It's A Small World! New Brainy Baby® DVDs Introduce Children to Different Languages

Atlanta, GA September 28, 2004 -- To very young children, every language is a new language. In those precious first years, babies learn basic words that form the vocabulary base they'll build onto for the rest of their lives. So there's no better time to start them off on not just their first language, but also a second, or even a third. And no one makes this easier than the new line of language DVDs from the award-winning Brainy Baby series.

Brainy Baby, created to inspire learning and develop cognitive skills in young children, is releasing three new DVD titles, "Brainy Baby English," "Brainy Baby Spanish" and "Brainy Baby French," which introduce some of the most common languages spoken in the world today through words and objects they use and encounter in their daily lives. Recommended for ages 1-5, the Brainy Baby language DVD's are now available for a suggested retail price of $19.95 each. VHS is $15.95.

"Language and child development experts agree that children's minds are sponges, which can absorb all sorts of wonderful information if you present it to them in a way they can understand and enjoy. Multiple languages are no exception," says Dennis Fedoruk, president, The Brainy Baby Company. "We've been looking forward to creating these new programs and are very proud to be able to offer children the chance to further develop their minds in an enjoyable and interactive style."

Each DVD teaches first words like animal names, body parts, toys, colors and numbers, as well as common phrases, like "Please" and "Thank you." Words are both spoken and displayed, and connected directly to a visual children can relate to – a little girl's smile, an apple on a tree, a dog – all complimented by a lighthearted soundtrack, and demonstrated by a multi-ethnic cast of children.

The same objects, words and images are used on each DVD so transitions from one language to another are made smoothly and easily. What children know to be "girl" in English, they'll then learn to be "fille" in French and "niña" in Spanish. The pet kitten they play with they'll soon be calling their "gatito" or "chaton." And what parent won't be thrilled that their children can count to ten, say "hello" to a friend, or offer a gracious "thank you" in another language?

While the Brainy Baby French and Spanish programs are ideal for introducing these languages to English-speaking children, "Brainy Baby English" is also a wonderful tool for building a child's first-language vocabulary, as well an introducing it to children who learn English as a second language.

All titles offer extra features like fun interactive vocabulary reviews, loop play (video will automatically start over for uninterrupted viewing), Baby Bloopers, an absolutely charming behind-the-scenes look at the making of the videos, and sneak peeks of other Brainy Baby titles and DVD-rom activities. A Parent Guide is also included to help parents collect their Brainy Baby libraries in sync with their children's development.

Brainy Baby language DVDS join the expanding collection of Brainy Baby Learning Library DVDs including "Peek-A-Boo," "Laugh & Learn," "Right Brain," "Left Brain," "ABCs," "123's," "Shapes & Colors," "Animals," "Art," and "Music." Future Brainy Baby subjects include sign language, math, and pre-reading and phonics. Brainy Baby also produces musical CDs, books, toys, and electronic games through licensing agreements with Vtech, Bendon Publishing and Imagination Entertainment.

This fall, the entire Brainy Baby DVD catalog will be released in Spanish for distribution in the U.S. and Mexico. For more information about Brainy Baby or to purchase products, visit www.brainybaby.com or call toll free 1-877-455BABY (1-877-455-2229).
